SAES Getters products have been to Jupiter (on the Galileo spacecraft) and Saturn (on the Cassini probes). The company operates two divisions: components (which makes getters, mechanisms used in display devices, light sources, and electronic devices and flat panels) and equipment (purifiers, analyzers, and analytical services mainly for companies in the semiconductor industry). The components division also makes metal dispensers used in fluorescent lamps, night vision devices, and plasma displays. SAES Getters is controlled by Italian holding company S.G.G. Holding, which in turn counts the della Porta, Canale, and Baldi families as stakeholders. Customers located in Asia account for three-quarters of sales.
