Overview
Sabre Holdings has cut itself a huge slice of the travel reservations industry pie. Used by travel agencies worldwide to book airline tickets, rental cars, hotel reservations, and cruise/tour packages, the Sabre system is the world's #1 computerized travel reservation system. Individual consumers make travel plans using the company's Travelocity Web site (among the leaders of online travel services). The company also owns lastminute.com which gives it a significant travel presence in Europe. In 2007, Sabre was acquired by private equity groups Silver Lake Partners and Texas Pacific Group for $4.5 billion.
