Sabanci Company Description
With a portfolio of some 70 companies operating in more than 10 countries, Haci Ömer Sabanci Holding ranks as the second-largest business group in Turkey, behind the Koç group. The company operates in nine strategic business groups: financial services; tire, reinforcement materials, and automotive; retailing and food; cement; chemicals and international trade; textile; and energy. It owns more than 40% of Akbank, one of the country's largest banks. Operations also include IT and communications, paper and packaging materials, and tourism and tobacco. Sabanci has joint ventures with Bridgestone, Carrefour, Philip Morris, and Toyota. The wealthy Sabanci family owns about 60% of the company.
