Energy can be so sweet for Séchilienne-Sidec. That's because the company produces some of it from the residue of sugar cane. Séchilienne-Sidec has interests in coal and bagasse (residue left over after a product from a plant, such as sugar cane, has been extracted) energy companies in Mauritius, and Réunion, and in Guadeloupe. It has 50% of the electricity market in Réunion, 30% in Mauritius, and 25% in Guadeloupe. The company is 43.5% owned by Financière Helios. In 2007 it sold its 40% stake in Eoliennes de Haute Lys, which operates wind farms in northern France.
