Ryerson Company Description
Ryerson has a heart of steel. A distributor and processor of metals, the company offers its customers steel products (carbon, stainless, and alloy), aluminum, copper, and industrial plastics. It buys bulk metal products (in sheets, bars, and other forms) from metal producers and processes them into smaller lots to meet the specifications of its customers -- machine shops, fabricators, metal producers, and machinery makers. Ryerson has facilities in the US and Canada and a joint venture in China. Private investment firm Platinum Equity owns Ryerson.
