Huntsman and Chemtura crossed an important, no-going-back kind of boundary in creating their joint venture, Rubicon LLC. The company manufactures polyurethanes in its plant in Geismar, Louisiana. Huntsman's polyurethanes unit is based in Belgium, and Rubicon's facility in that country is the unit's primary manufacturing plant, producing chemicals and intermediates for the apparel, automotive, coatings, and construction industries. Among the end products Rubicon's chemicals go into are refrigerator insulation, foam seat cushions, bowling balls, car bumpers, shoes, paints, tires, and pharmaceuticals.
