Royal Group is a leading North American maker of PVC and vinyl building and home improvement products such as window profiles, fencing and decking -- it also produces vinyl siding. Its Royal Mouldings division makes decorative mouldings and millwork. Royal Pipe Systems makes plastic pipe and fittings for municipal, plumbing, and electrical construction uses. Royal is a subsidiary of Georgia Gulf Corporation, which bought the company in 2006 for $1.5 billion. Burdened with debt and facing a downturn in the construction and housing industries Georgia Gulf was forced to cut costs and sell some Royal assets in 2007 and 2008.
