Overview
Rothmans, Benson & Hedges (RBH) is the operating subsidiary of Rothmans, which is owned by Philip Morris International (PMI). PMI held a 40% stake in RBH until September 2008, when PMI purchased Rothmans for about $2 billion. Rothmans held the other 60%. RBH makes and markets cigarettes and tobacco for roll-your-own use. The company's brands include Belvedere, Benson and Hedges, Craven "A," Dunhill (under license), Mark Ten, Number 7, Rothmans, and Viscount. RBH purchases most of its tobacco from Canadian growers and controls almost a quarter of the Canadian tobacco-product market. The company has been bracing itself for the first round of Canadian class-action suits against tobacco companies.
