Rollerblade Company Description
As the company that brought roller skating outside of a rink, Rollerblade caters to in-line skate enthusiasts of all stripes. Rollerblade makes in-line skates designed for fitness, women, kids, hockey, and the so-called aggressive market of skating daredevils, as well as protective gear and accessories. Its products are sold in sporting goods stores. Rollerblade has developed technology for skate braking and an all-terrain skate with inflatable wheels, spawning the sport of downhill skating. Founded by the inventor of the in-line skate, Scott Olson, Rollerblade was bought by investors in 1984, who then sold it to Italian apparel firm Benetton Group. Italian sports gear company Tecnica purchased Rollerblade in mid-2003.
