Segments include high-powered lasers used for industrial cutting and welding, lasers for microtech applications, and products for marking and labeling. Customers include manufacturers in the automotive, machine tool, and semiconductor industries, as well as makers of electronics, aerospace equipment, consumer goods, and medical devices. ROFIN-SINAR has more than 31,000 units installed worldwide. The company has plants in the US, Asia, and Europe; Germany accounts for about half of its sales, and North America contributes one-quarter. ROFIN-SINAR was spun off from Siemens AG in 1996.
