Retail Brand Alliance Company Description
Retail Brand Alliance (RBA) is shedding allies to better focus on its Brooks Brothers business. Formed in 2001 as a holding company, RBA acquired the 160-store Brooks Brothers chain that year from UK department store operator Marks and Spencer for about $225 million. Carolee Designs (jewelry and accessories) and Adrienne Vittadini, a womenswear designer, are other brands in the company's portfolio. RBA sold the 550-store Casual Corner Group chain to retail liquidator Gordon Brothers in 2005. RBA's plan is to return Brooks Brothers to its classic roots and expand the chain internationally. President and CEO Claudio Del Vecchio owns RBA, which he acquired from his father's company, Luxottica Group.
