Reichhold Company Description
Founded in 1927 by namesake Henry Reichhold to make auto paints, Reichhold has expanded its product line and geographic scope. The company makes resins used in coatings (powder coating, epoxy, and radiation-cured resins), synthetic latex (used in textiles, carpets, and paper products), and gel coats and bonding agents for the composites industry (to make tubs and showers, in marine applications, and to provide corrosion-resistance). The specialty-latex is made by a joint venture with Dow Chemical called Dow Reichhold Specialty Latex. It had been a subsidiary of Dainippon Ink and Chemicals (DIC) until 2005 when company executives and DIC reached an agreement to take Reichhold private through a management buyout.
