Overview
This bus has shifted gears. Formerly an independent motion picture distribution outfit, Redbus is now focused on acquiring businesses (primarily in the entertainment industry) that require restructuring or re-financing. The company previously released the international hit film Bend It Like Beckham, and owned the UK and Irish distribution rights to about 75 other titles, including teen screamers Jeepers Creepers and Cabin Fever and the chilling hit Open Water. CEO Simon Franks, who founded the company in 1998, owns about 80% of Redbus, which sold its film distribution business to Lionsgate in late 2005 for $42 million.
