Overview
RC2 is tackling the Learning Curve of selling playthings. The company designs child care products and toys for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children and markets them through its Learning Curve unit, whose brand portfolio includes The First Years, Lamaze, and JJ Cole. For bigger kids, it offers plastic and die-cast collectibles, such as Ertl agricultural vehicle replicas and Johnny Lightning vintage cars and trucks. The firm also holds licensing agreements to make products under such names as Thomas & Friends, Bob the Builder, and John Deere. Its goods are sold at toy and discount stores in the US and more than 60 other countries. In early 2011 RC2 was acquired by TOMY for about $640 million in cash.
