Qiao Xing Universal Telephone manufactures and markets cellular phones and holds interests in copper mining operations in Mongolia. Qiao Xing Universal Telephone also has partnerships with retailers in Europe, North America, and Latin America. The company manufactures its GSM-based cellular phones while its standard indoor phones are manufactured by third-party providers. Founder, chairman, and CEO Wu Rui Lin and his family control more than 20% of Qiao Xing. The company said in late 2009 that it would change its name to Qiao Xing Universal Resources and move completed into the mining business.
