The regional freight railroad operates over a network of about 545 miles of track in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, and Rhode Island. Major customers include Cargill, Dow Chemical, Frito-Lay, International Paper, and GDF SUEZ Energy. P&W interchanges freight traffic with CSX, the New England Central Railroad, the New York and Atlantic Railroad, and Pan Am Railways (formerly Springfield Terminal Railway).
