Overview

Pre-Paid Legal Services wants to help see that justice is done. The company's membership plans, which are similar to insurance, give participants access to an independent network of attorneys and other legal professionals at provider law firms for a monthly fee. Covered services include IRS audit protection, traffic violation defense, and will preparation. Pre-Paid Legal Services has about 1.5 million members, mainly in the US but also in Canada. In addition to basic plans designed for individuals and families, the company markets plans to groups with specialized needs, such as business owners and commercial drivers. Private equity company MidOcean Partners agreed to acquire the company in 2011.
