Platts has been monitoring the energy industry for more than 75 years. The company offers energy and commodities information and analysis on the oil, natural gas, electricity, nuclear power, coal, petrochemical, and metals markets. It sells subscriptions to its content, offered through websites, newsletters, and magazines, to traders, risk managers, analysts, and industry executives. Other offerings include maps and software. It also produces conferences for the energy industry. Platts has about 15 offices worldwide, and is owned by publishing giant McGraw-Hill. The parent company is splitting in two; Platts will be a part of McGraw-Hill Markets, a new company focused on capital and commodity markets.
