Pittsburgh Steelers Company Description

Pittsburgh Steelers Sports has forged a championship tradition in Steel Town. The company owns the Pittsburgh Steelers football franchise, which has won a record five Super Bowl titles (a mark it shares with the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers). During the 1970s under head coach Chuck Noll, the team captured four titles with the help of such stars as Terry Bradshaw and Lynn Swann. The Steelers won its fifth title in 2006 under the direction of Noll's successor, Bill Cowher. Founded in 1933 as the Pirates, the football team (renamed in 1940) claimed winning seasons only eight times during its first 40 years. The family of chairman Dan Rooney (son of late team founder Art Rooney) owns the team.
