A unit of multimedia software giant Avid Technology, the company provides PC-based products that allow customers in the consumer market to use home computers, camcorders, and VCRs to create slick home videos incorporating music and special effects. Pinnacle also makes software that allow users to watch television on their PCs. Previously a developer of products for both the consumer and professional video editing markets, Pinnacle Systems was acquired by Avid Technology for approximately 6.2 million shares of stock and $71.3 million in cash in 2005.
