Coyotes Hockey owns and operates the Phoenix Coyotes professional hockey franchise, which draws respectable crowds at home despite a downward trend in wins over the past few seasons. The team began playing in 1972 as the Winnipeg Jets in the fledgling World Hockey League. Since joining the National Hockey League in 1979, it has made 14 playoff appearances but has yet to capture the Stanley Cup. A group led by trucking magnate Jerry Moyes and hockey great Wayne Gretzky owns the club.
