PetroChina Company Description
If you want petroleum in China, then PetroChina is your company. A subsidiary of state-owned China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), PetroChina produces two-thirds of China's oil and gas. The company has proved reserves of 11.7 billion barrels of oil and 57.1 trillion cu. ft. of natural gas. It engages in domestic exploration, owns more than 22,000 kilometers of natural gas pipeline in China, and operates 26 refineries and 12 chemical plants. PetroChina also owns or has interests in more than 17,000 gas stations. The company was created in 2000 as a separate company to manage domestic operations of CNPC, which handles international activities.
