The company's antibody humanization technology makes it possible to alter mouse monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) for improved use in therapies for humans. PDL BioPharma develops MAbs to prevent and treat autoimmune diseases and cancer. The company both licenses its technology and focuses on developing new therapies for acute care in the hospital setting. The firm has partnerships with such companies as MedImmune and Genentech, which licensed the technology behind its best-selling breast-cancer treatment MAb Herceptin from PDL.
