Pacer Stacktrain Company Description
As the key subsidiary of logistics company Pacer International, Pacer Stacktrain orchestrates intermodal freight transportation (involving trains and trucks) through its fleet of about 1,850 specially designed railcars capable of carrying containers stacked two-high. The company's fleet also includes about 29,900 chassis (used to transport containers over the road), and some 28,500 containers. A sister company, Pacer Cartage, provides local delivery of containerized freight in major US markets via independent truck owner-operators. Pacer Stacktrain's services are offered to intermodal marketing companies, including an internal unit, and to transportation providers, rather than directly to shippers.
