Company Description

Somfy made its money by turning a blind eye to business. Somfy designs, produces, and markets automatic controls and motors for awnings, roller shutters, and interior blinds. Applications for Somfy's motors and control systems range from small home set-ups to industrial networks for large office buildings. Somfy's awnings can be operated via a remote control or automatically with the wind and solar control function, depending on weather conditions. Europe is by far the company's largest geographical segment, representing about 85% of sales. The family of management board chairman Paul-Georges Despature holds the majority of Somfy's shares and its voting rights through J.P.J. SCA.
