Company Description

Here comes the sun king, using one of the Earth's free and unending sources of power for more than the production of sunburns. SolarWorld is a vertically integrated manufacturer of solar energy collection modules that range in scale from single residences to large-scale plants. Mechanical positioning of its panels' parts prevents loss of production due to shading. It also makes the solar-grade silicon, solar wafers, and solar cells that go into its modules, as well as all-in-one kits for module installation. SolarWorld gets around 90% of its sales in Europe, primarily in Germany. The company was founded in 1988 by CEO Frank Asbeck, who owns one-quarter of SolarWorld.
