Company Description

Rock of Ages (ROA) is into hard rock -- as long as it's granite. The company, which is known for its personalized cemetery memorials (including a full-size replica of a Mercedes-Benz), quarries its own granite and makes finished granite memorials. ROA operates about 10 quarries and a handful of manufacturing and sawing facilities, mostly in Vermont and Quebec. ROA sells its memorials through more than 100 independent retailers in the US and another 100 retailers in Canada. Chairman Kurt Swensen and his brother Kevin own ROA through Swenson Granite, which completed  the purchase of the 30% of ROA's stock it did not already own in 2011.
