Company Description

Business is shipshape at NASSCO Holdings, dba General Dynamics NASSCO. The General Dynamics subsidiary operates the only major construction shipyard on the US West Coast; it maintains and repairs all facets of large, ocean-bound military and commercial surface ships. NASSCO provides new ship construction, overhaul, and upgrade for the US Navy and, less so, commercial customers such as TOTE and Shell. Its work includes dry cargo carriers, ferries, oil tankers, and ships for US and NATO combat support. NASSCO serves as a key homeport for the Navy's Pacific Fleet. Formerly National Steel and Shipbuilding Company, it was founded in 1905 as a machine shop. NASSCO is part of General Dynamics' Marine Systems group.
