Company Description

Venerable Lord & Taylor is a Fifth Avenue institution trying hard not to become a retail industry dinosaur. The nation's oldest department store chain operates about 45 stores in nine states and the District of Columbia, as well as two Lord & Taylor Home stores, several outlet stores, and online shopping site. Its stores sell better women's, men's, and children's apparel and accessories, and cosmetics. Services include personal shopping and in-store restaurants at some locations. Its Fifth Avenue flagship (more than 10% of annual sales) store's Christmas windows are a New York holiday tradition. Founded in 1826, Lord & Taylor is owned by the Canadian retail conglomerate Hudson Bay Company (HBC).
