Company Description

Jujamcyn Theaters screws in a lot of the light bulbs on the Great White Way. The company owns and operates five theaters in New York City that house plays and musicals such as Tony award winner The Producers and Pulitzer Prize winner Angels in America. Its theaters include the St. James and the August Wilson Theatre (formerly the Virginia).  Jujamcyn -- along with The Shubert Organization and the Nederlander Producing Company -- controls most Broadway productions. Jujamcyn was founded in 1956 by James Binger. It's named after his children, Ju[dith], Jam[es], and Cyn[thia]. Former president and producer Rocco Landesman bought Jujamcyn in 2005 for about $30 million, but left the company in 2009 to head the NEA.
