Company Description

Forget ringing cash registers -- the sound of sliding plastic is music to Ingenico's ears. The company makes electronic payment and credit authorization systems, including point-of-sale terminals, portable systems, and PC-based systems for offices. Ingenico also makes online payment systems and smartcard readers. Its products are used for banking, health care, hospitality, retail, and vending applications. The company has more than 15 million terminals in some 125 countries; Europe and the Americas account for the majority of sales. Ingenico has added a number of transaction services including management of terminals, connectivity, and transactions. Company director Jean-Jacques Poutrel formed Ingenico in 1980.
