Company Description

Heijmans helps empty spaces become apartments, houses, stores, roads, and office buildings. The property development, residential and non-residential building, technical services, and infrastructure company operates in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany. Commercial work makes up most of Heijmans' revenue while local and national government contracts cover the balance. Property development and housing was hard hit by the global economic crisis and Heijmans was forced to restructure and sharpen its focus on its core Dutch business. (It sold its UK division for €45 million, or $59 million, in 2010.) New investments in infrastructure have also helped Heijmans stay afloat. Jan Heijmans founded the firm in 1923.
