Company Description

Grupo La Moderna makes food products that constitute the "grains" part of a balanced diet. Based in Mexico, the company makes and distributes pasta, flour, instant soups, cookies, and biscuits under such brand names as La Perla, Don Pascuale, Jarochas, and Snafris. Grupo La Moderna has five divisions -- three dedicated to food production, one to packaging, and one to real estate, distribution, and administrative services. The company's origins date back to 1920 and the founding of Fabrica de Pastas Alimenticias La Moderna. The company expanded its product offerings and changed ownership numerous times before becoming part of Grupo Tablex in 1978. In 2000 it adopted the La Moderna name.
