With all due respect to rockers Deep Purple, GE Trailer Fleet Services (formerly Transport International Pool or TIP) wants to be a "highway star." The company, a division of General Electric's Equipment Services business, rents, leases, sells, and remarkets over-the-road transport trailers. The company also offers mobile maintenance and vehicle protection plan services. GE Trailer Fleet Services has a fleet of more than 135,000 units and more than 100 branches throughout Canada, Mexico, and the US. GE Trailer Fleet Services also keeps a fleet of some 25,000 used trailers for sale. The company was founded in 1957 as Container Leasing, Inc.
