Company Description

The Emeritus Corporation honors the retirement set. The company operates assisted-living communities for senior citizens who need help with daily activities such as feeding, bathing, housekeeping, and managing their medications, as well as for those patients suffering from dementia. Emeritus' communities also organize social and recreational activities for residents, and most of them provide special services (called Join Their Journey programs) to support residents with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia. Throughout the US, Emeritus owns, leases, or manages about 480 communities, some under the Summerville name. Chairman Daniel "Dan" Baty and his family own one-quarter of Emeritus.
