Electric Boat is not a float in the Disney Electric Light Parade. Electric Boat designs, builds, and maintains nuclear attack and ballistic-missile submarines for the US Navy. A subsidiary of defense giant General Dynamics, Electric Boat was established in 1899 and won its first US Navy contract within a year. It has delivered the lead ship of the Virginia class (USS Virginia-SSN774) and its third and final Seawolf-class submarine (Jimmy Carter-SSN23) to the US Navy, and is working on several Virginia-class submarines with Northrop Grumman. Electric Boat continues to provide support and maintenance for Seawolf-, Ohio-, and Los Angeles-class submarines. Electric Boat operates in Connecticut and Rhode Island.
