Company Description

Drax Group has bragging rights when it comes to operating the largest coal-fired power plant in Europe. The company's primary subsidiary, Drax Power, operates the Drax Power Station in North Yorkshire, England. The generation facility (which has six generators) has a capacity of almost 4,000 MW, nearly twice that of the next largest coal-fired power station in the UK; its output is sold to wholesale electricity customers. Drax (which meets 7% of the UK's power requirements) burnt 9.4 million tons of coal and 907,000 tons of biomass. That year it sold 26.4 terawatt hours of electricity.
