Company Description

BRT Realty is a real estate investment trust (REIT) that originates and holds senior and junior mortgage loans for income-producing commercial property. Most are high-yield short-term mortgages or bridge loans secured by shopping centers, office buildings, hotels and apartments that are being converted into condominiums, and other multifamily residential properties. The REIT also invests in real estate joint ventures and in stock of other real estate companies. BRT Realty's loan portfolio consists of approximately 40 mortgages on properties in about a dozen states, mainly New York, New Jersey, and Florida. Chairman Fredric Gould and his family control about a quarter of BRT Realty.
