Company Description

Once again it's showtime at the Apollo Theater. The Apollo Theater Foundation was created to manage and operate the historic building, considered by many to be the spiritual home of African-American music in New York. The foundation has reinvented the former music hall as an arts center with plays and musicals being responsible for about 80% of its revenue. As part of a historic renovation project, New York governor David Paterson's Downstate Revitalization Fund will help to restore, enhance, and sustain the Apollo Theater. Improvements include work above the auditorium, work on the building's western wall, roof and wall repair, asbestos abatement, and heating and cooling system replacement.
