Omeros Company Description
Knee surgery, no fun. Neither are operations to the eye or prostate. If biopharmaceutical company Omeros has its way, therapies it has under development will soon help control the pain, inflammation, and muscle spasms that occur during and after such surgeries. Its products are based on its PharmacoSurgeryTM platform, which are pre-dosed, single-use containers of antibodies that are added to standard surgical irrigation fluid and applied directly to a patient's tissue to block toxins caused by surgical trauma. The company plans to use the proceeds from its 2008 initial public offering to fund the completion of Phase 3 clinical trials for its lead product, OMS103HP. Omeros is about one-quarter owned by management.
