One of the world's largest telecom companies, NTT owns a controlling stake in Japan's dominant cellular carrier, NTT DoCoMo, and it is a holding company for regional local phone companies NTT East and NTT West, which enjoy de facto monopolies in their respective markets. It provides long-distance, international, and multimedia networking services through subsidiary NTT Communications. The company also operates a leading ISP and provides IT services through majority-owned NTT DATA. NTT has foreign holdings in Europe, the Pacific Rim, and the US. The Japanese state owns 34% of the company.
