Northern Growers Company Description
Northern Growers owns a 77% interest in POET Biorefining-Big Stone (formerly Northern Lights Ethanol). The company grew out of the former Northern Growers Cooperative and is comprised of corn producers in South Dakota and surrounding states. POET Biorefining- Big Stone operates an ethanol plant near Big Stone City, South Dakota that produces around 80 million gallons annually after a 2007 expansion. It receives incentive payments on both the state and federal levels to produce ethanol as an alternative fuel product.
