NewPage Company Description

Some companies grow up from a mom-and-pop operation; others appear as full-grown giant paper companies. NewPage Group is an example of the latter. The company was formed when MeadWestvaco sold its papers business to Cerberus Capital Management in 2005. After its acquisition of Stora Enso Oyj's North American operations, NewPage now runs 12 pulp and paper mills capable of turning out 4.3 million tons of coated paper and 3.2 million tons of market pulp a year. The company had already debuted as the largest maker of coated paper (commonly used in magazines and brochures) in North America.
