National Bank of Greece Company Description
Like the ancient ruins that dominate the landscape of Greece, National Bank of Greece (NBG) dominates the banking landscape of the Mediterranean. In addition to holding the top position at home, NBG has become a major player in the Balkans as it buys controlling stakes in banks throughout the region. The bank offers such services as commercial and consumer banking, asset management, investment banking, financing, and insurance. It has more than 550 domestic branches and another 1,000 in a dozen outside countries. NBG once served as the Greek central bank, but the government sold its stake in the company in 2004.
