Overview
NASDAQ isn't a place; it's a state of mind. OK, that's not exactly true, but The NASDAQ OMX Group is the leader in floorless exchanges and has surpassed NYSE Euronext as the world's largest stock exchange. The group was formed in 2008 when the Nasdaq Stock Exchange merged with OMX, which owns the Nordic Marketplace (and its Nordic Exchange, Northern Europe's largest integrated securities exchange) and other European markets. NASDAQ OMX trades in more than 3,900 companies, including Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs), equities, derivatives, commodities, and structured products. The company's Market Services segment (quotations, order execution, reporting services, and more) represents about 85% of its sales.
