Movielink Company Description
Annoyed with the chatty, popcorn-noshing masses? Look no further for your online link to feature films. Movielink offers movies available for download to the PC through its video-on-demand Internet distribution service. The first studio-backed service of its kind, Movielink was founded as a joint venture between Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Universal Studios, and Warner Bros., who were responding to consumers' adoption of high-speed Internet access. Delayed for nearly two years as Hollywood struggled with concerns about piracy and high-quality video delivery, Movielink (formerly MovieFly) introduced its library of films in 2002. Movie-rental giant Blockbuster acquired Movielink in 2007.
