Overview

Morgans Hotel Group is part of a growing trend of staying in boutiques rather than shopping in them. The company owns (wholly or partially) and manages about a dozen luxury boutique hotels in New York; Las Vegas; Los Angeles; Miami; San Francisco; Scottsdale, Arizona; and London. The design of each location reflects its environs, and all feature upscale restaurants and bars. Hotel brands include Hard Rock, Hudson, Mondrian, and Royalton, while Asia de Cuba and Skybar are restaurant and bar brands. Investors include Morgan Stanley and OTK Associates. Chairman David Hamamoto and former CEO Edward Scheetz together own more than 15% of the company.
