Minyard Group Company Description
Everything's bigger in Texas, including regional grocery chains such as Minyard Group (dba Minyard Food Stores). Its 60 supermarkets are located primarily in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, one of the nation's most competitive grocery markets. Minyard's retail stores range in size from 15,000 sq. ft. to 76,000 sq. ft. Company banners include about 25 Carnival Food Stores that cater to Hispanics, some 20 Minyard supermarkets, and a dozen Sack 'n Save Warehouse Food Stores (low-cost shopping with customers bagging their own groceries). Minyard also owns a dozen On the Go gas stations. Founded as a single store in east Dallas by the Minyard family in 1932, the Minyards sold the chain to Texas investors in 2004.
