Basketball Properties owns and operates the Miami Heat professional basketball team, which joined the National Basketball Association as an expansion franchise in 1988. The team struggled to find success until 1995 when former Los Angeles Lakers coach Pat Riley came to Miami. However, it wasn't until 2006 that the Heat won its first NBA title with a roster that included another former Laker, Shaquille O'Neal, along with such stars as Dwyane Wade.
