Overview
Merchant Retail Group (commonly known as MRG) has gotten beyond selling its products and is selling itself. The perfume retailer and department store group has three main divisions, including The Perfume Shop, Joplings, and A. de Gruchy. The Perfume Shop has about 110 locations that sell branded fragrances. Joplings, part of MRG's department store group, operates four stores. A. de Gruchy, founded in 1810, is MRG's high-end department store on the Channel Islands. In 2005, Merchant Retail was acquired by Hong Kong health and beauty retailer Hutchison Whampoa subsidiary AS Watson.
